Vora Noire is a monthly reading membership built around mood and atmosphere. Every month begins with a single emotional theme — and everything in your box is curated around it. The novel, the hand-poured soy candle, the crafted cocktail, and a tactile keepsake all work together to create one complete, intentional experience.

This isn't a book club. It's a permission slip to slow down, immerse yourself, and make the moment entirely yours.

When you join, you select your genre (Romance or Thriller) and your narrative intensity tier (Hinted, Revealed, or Unveiled). That becomes your default selection each month.

On the 1st of every month, that month's novels are revealed. Members have until the 4th to request a swap to a different tier or genre. If you don't swap, your default ships. Your box ships on the 15th of every month.

$129 per month. Shipping is always included — no surprises at checkout, ever.

Your first charge happens when you join and complete your selection. After that, recurring billing runs on the 6th of each month — always after that month's novels have been revealed on the 1st, giving you time to swap or cancel before you're charged.

The public membership window opens on the 6th of each month and closes on the 13th. Launch month exception: June 2026 is open from the 1st through the 13th. During the window, you pick your tier and genre — that becomes your default selection going forward. Your first charge happens when you complete your selection, and your box ships on the 15th.

If you arrive outside the window, sign up for our newsletter and we'll let you know the moment it reopens.

After your first month, you'll have the 1st through the 4th of every month to swap your selection through The Lounge if you'd like a different tier or genre.

Every box includes:

• One novel, chosen for the month's emotional atmosphere. We prioritize hardcovers, deluxe, and special editions when available.
• A private-label soy candle, hand-poured in Tennessee.
• A cocktail pairing — key ingredient included, full recipe in the box and in The Lounge.
• A tactile keepsake chosen specifically for your novel.
• A soundscape card — NFC chip and QR code, included in your first box inside the welcome envelope. Tap or scan anytime to access The Lounge and nine curated playlists. If your card is ever lost or stops working, contact us for a free replacement.

The candle and cocktail are the same across all boxes each month — they're tied to the monthly mood. Your novel and keepsake are specific to your selection. There are six possible combinations each month across two genres and three narrative intensities.

Every selection is available in three intensities:

• Hinted — The tension lives between the lines. In Romance, desire is felt before it's named. In Thriller, the dread arrives quietly. For readers who find suggestion more powerful than detail.
• Revealed — Everything on the page, nothing overdone. In Romance, the heat is real. In Thriller, the darkness has weight. Fully present and intentional.
• Unveiled — Nothing withheld. In Romance, every moment of intimacy is written without apology. In Thriller, the psychological intensity is complete and unflinching.

Every box ships on the 15th of each month. You'll receive a shipping confirmation when it's on its way.

We currently ship within the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia.

The Lounge is your private members-only space where the full monthly experience lives. Inside you'll find the month's mood notes, the full cocktail recipe, candle scent details, early novel reveals, and access to nine curated soundscape playlists — lyric-free, built for reading.

Your first box includes a soundscape card in the welcome envelope — it has both an NFC chip and a QR code. Tap or scan anytime to enter The Lounge directly. If your card is ever lost or stops working, contact us for a free replacement.

All nine playlists live inside The Lounge, with links to both Spotify and Apple Music. Tap or scan your soundscape card to go straight there, or log in to The Lounge anytime to access them.

The playlists are permanent and lyric-free — available to members year-round, not just during active months.

The Lounge updates in two stages each month. On the 1st, that month's novels and emotional mood are revealed — members can explore their selection and request a swap through the 4th.

On the 20th, the full reveal unlocks. Candle, cocktail, and keepsake details go live so you know exactly what's arriving as your box makes its way to you.

Swap — Between the 1st and 4th of each month, members can request a swap to a different genre or tier through The Lounge. Requests are fulfilled in the order received, subject to available inventory. If your requested swap isn't available, you can choose to have your default selection ship instead, or skip that month entirely.

Pause or cancel — Do so before the 6th billing date through your account portal. No fees, no phone calls, no friction.

Yes. When requesting a swap you can choose to change just that month, or update your default going forward. Both options are available through your account portal.

Due to the curated nature of our boxes, all sales are final. If an item arrives damaged or missing, we will replace it or apply a credit toward your next box. Please contact us within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue at support@voranoire.com.

Chapter One Society is the founding cohort of Vora Noire — the first members through the door. Every membership started between May 28, 2026 and May 31, 2027 is automatically part of this permanent group.

Chapter One Society members receive:

• An exclusive Chapter One Society bookmark in their first box
• Priority access during the swap window — Chapter One requests received by the 4th are fulfilled before the general pool
• A monthly early reveal email on the 28th — novel titles announced before anyone else
• A permanent founding member badge in The Lounge

Chapter One Society is permanent. Once the founding window closes, it closes with it.

Join during our founding window — May 28, 2026 through May 31, 2027. Once the founding period closes, Chapter One Society closes with it permanently. There is no way to join after it ends.
