Frequently Asked Questions

Vora Noire is a luxury book box built around one novel and the mood it lives in. The novel, a hand-poured soy candle, a craft cocktail with the key ingredient included, a keepsake chosen for that specific story, and a lyric-free soundscape — everything belonging to the same night. You choose the story you want, and it goes out within a few days.

No. Every box is a one-time purchase. Nothing renews, nothing bills again, and there is nothing to cancel.

Yes. On any product page, tick “This is a gift” — or use the Gift button on any card on The Vora Shelf. You can add the recipient’s name and a note to include. We never email your recipient, so nothing spoils the surprise.

Yes. Enter their address as the shipping address at checkout and the box goes directly to them.

No. Nothing in the box shows a price — there is no invoice or receipt inside. Your order confirmation goes to you by email only.

We’re based in Tennessee, so orders shipping to a Tennessee address have state sales tax added at checkout. Orders shipping anywhere else in the US do not.

Choose your genre — Romance or Thriller — and the intensity tier that suits how you like a story told: Hinted, Revealed, or Unveiled. Every experience is complete on its own and in stock. It’s packed by hand and on its way within a few days. No window to wait for, nothing recurring.

From $99 per experience, and shipping is always included — no surprises at checkout, ever. Each one is complete: the novel, the candle, the sip, and the keepsake made for that story — plus nine soundscapes to choose from. Nothing recurring, nothing to cancel.

Every box includes:

• One novel, chosen for the edition's emotional atmosphere. We prioritize hardcovers, deluxe, and special editions when available.
• A private-label soy candle, hand-poured in Tennessee.
• A cocktail or mocktail pairing — the key ingredient included (mixer, syrup, cubes and/or garnish), with the full recipe in the box and in The Lounge. No alcohol is ever shipped.
• A tactile keepsake chosen specifically for your novel.
• A welcome card — soundscape QR on the back, with a tap-to-open NFC card attached — included in your box. Tap or scan anytime to access The Lounge and nine lyric-free playlists. If your card is ever lost or stops working, contact us for a free replacement.

Shipping is always complimentary.

No — we never ship alcohol. Every experience includes the key ingredient for its pairing (the mixer, syrup, cubes and/or garnish) and the full recipe, written both ways. Add your own spirit for the cocktail, or make it exactly as written for the mocktail.

No. Within an edition the candle and the cocktail are shared — they belong to the mood — while the novel and the keepsake are specific to your choice. Six combinations per edition: two genres across three intensity tiers.

Every selection is available in three intensities:

• Hinted — The tension lives between the lines. In Romance, desire is felt before it's named. In Thriller, the dread arrives quietly. For readers who find suggestion more powerful than detail.
• Revealed — Everything on the page, nothing overdone. In Romance, the heat is real. In Thriller, the darkness has weight. Fully present and intentional.
• Unveiled — Nothing withheld. In Romance, every moment of intimacy is written without apology. In Thriller, the psychological intensity is complete and unflinching.

Within a few days of your order. Everything listed is in stock — we pack each one by hand, so it's days rather than hours, and there's no monthly ship date to wait for. You'll get a confirmation when it's on its way.

We currently ship within the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia.

The Lounge is where the whole experience lives — and it's open to everyone now. Inside: each edition's mood notes, the full cocktail and mocktail recipes, the candle's scent story, the novels and the keepsake chosen for each one, and all nine lyric-free playlists, built for reading.

Just go to voranoire.com/pages/the-lounge. No login, no membership — it's open to everyone. Your box also includes a card you can tap or scan to go straight there.

All nine playlists live inside The Lounge, with links to both Spotify and Apple Music. Tap or scan the card from your box to go straight there, or just open The Lounge anytime — no login needed.

The playlists are permanent and lyric-free — open to everyone, year-round.

Each new edition brings its own mood, candle, sip, keepsake stories and reveal into The Lounge. Nothing is ever taken away — every edition stays, and all of it is open to everyone.

Every Vora Noire box is assembled by hand. Because each box includes perishable items, we don’t accept returns or exchanges. If an item arrives damaged, defective, incorrect, or missing, email support@voranoire.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo. You can choose a replacement of the affected item or a refund.

If a Vora Noire box found its way to you during our founding year — whether you chose it yourself or someone chose it for you — you’re part of Chapter One Society. It isn’t a tier, a subscription, or one more thing to keep up with. It’s a record of who was here at the start, and it doesn’t expire.

Every box sent during our founding year carries a Chapter One Society bookmark. If you ordered your own, your place is already waiting — just sign in. If someone sent you one, the card inside your box shows you where to register. Our founding year runs through 31 May 2027, and recognition is permanent.
