Aleasha is a vet tech who lives with her mom and five cats — one of them, Ruthie Mae, spent this year learning to walk again. In July, Aleasha found a lump herself, six months after a clear exam. Stage 1, triple-negative. Caught early, before it spread.

Ahead of her: five months of chemo, surgery, then five more. She is funny and blunt and would roll her eyes at being called brave — so we won’t. We’ll just say she’s ours, and she isn’t doing this alone.
